Thanks for the perspective, Rob Pattinson.

On certain days here in Brisbane (generally the ones where all I do is go to uni, eat meals at college, and get work done) I get frustrated because I feel like there is so much Australia to experience, but that day was just spent on campus. Today was one of those days.

As I was unenthusiastically thinking over the mundane aspects of my day, the wise words of Mr. Rob Pattinson in the film Remember Me popped into my head (okay, most of the quote is originally from Gandhi, but I was remembering the movie): "Whatever you do in life will be insignificant, but it's very important that you do it. Because nobody else will."

Nobody else will. No one else on this earth will do the things I was put here to do today for me. Even if they sometimes seem inconsequential, these everyday comings and goings are a part of my life here in Australia, and they are therefore important in shaping both what I will take away and what mark I will leave through my experience here. Today I attended classes with some of the most brilliant and engaging professors I've ever had. I got to explain to Australian, French, and Japanese students, all at the same time, why the Pledge of Allegiance is controversial. I listened to crazy-sounding birds out my window that I will never hear anywhere else. And perhaps most importantly, I talked with heaps of people and, if I'm lucky, made a positive difference in the day for at least one of them.

A day "just" spent on campus...who am I kidding? When I look at it in this light, it seems like quite an adventure! I hope you all enjoy your adventures today, whether they involve jetting off to an exotic location, or cleaning your room and studying for an exam.
